5 Benefits of Online Banking

Posted on January 9, 2023 at 2:02 PM by Brian Godwin

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, our Credit Union’s online banking usage grew substantially. And, although our lobbies are open again and more people are out and about, members that began using our online banking platform have continued to do so. Why is that? We believe it’s because members who have used the system realize how simple and convenient it is. If you’ve yet to sign up and use online banking, here are 5 benefits you can expect to enjoy by doing so.

1. Have real-time access to your balance

As transactions post to your account, they are immediately reflected online. After making a purchase, you can immediately see the pending debit on your account. This will be reflected in your available balance, so you’ll always know the amount of funds you have in your account. The same applies to your paycheck being direct deposited.

2. Make transfers between accounts

Want to make a transfer from your Share Draft (Checking) Account to your Share (Savings) Account, but our branches are closed? No problem. Simply log in to online banking and make a transfer on your own, at any time. No phone call or branch visit required!

3. Utilize Bill Pay

Within our online banking platform, we have a Bill Pay service to help you manage all of the bills you pay on a regular basis. It is an easy-to-use system that can help make managing payments a smooth process. There is a nominal charge for the service, but it is free for members that have signed up for eStatements (check our FAQs to learn how).

4. Ensure the accuracy of account information

Fraudsters continue to look for ways to gather debit card and other account information. We have many processes and tools in place to limit their ability to do so, and there are protections in place that limit members’ responsibility for these charges. But, by keeping an eye on online banking, members are able to ensure that all charges on their accounts are appropriately authorized and accurate. If an issue were to appear, it could be caught and corrected much more quickly than it would be reflected on a monthly statement.

5. Take your accounts with you on the go

To make it even easier to access your accounts 24 hours a day, we have a mobile app, which you can download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. You can log in with your fingerprint and have instant access to your account. You can even deposit a check from home, using the camera on your smartphone, with our Mobile Deposit feature.
